The tri-polish challenge day 13 : Mosaic nails

Hello my dears! It's time for TRI-POLISH CHALLENGE  again!!
I have done my 4 manis for the month of June back in april, when we had awful weather, so my pics are a little dull, and I apologize. But I'm happy I did that in advance, because right now, I do not have time to do nail art! I just paint my nails once per week, and at most use some topper for an accent, and beg for it to last 7 days, lol!

So as you know this challenge allows using 3 colours per month, and all manis for June have to be done with at least two of the following: Pink, purple, red. So here are the polishes I chose to represent my colours: Essie Limited addiction for red, Essence lilac is my style for purple (thank you Christine!) and for pink: Bourjois Peach and love (though they should have called this one "Peach nightmare")..

For this first mani I went with a design I had pin ages ago and I never ened up doing it, until I had the chance for this challegne. It is "mosaic nails" using a gold base and irregulars spots of colour.
This is a very, very simple technique, I first ainted two coats of Essie Beyond cosy, and then applied the colours using the regular polish brush instead of dotting tools because I wanted it to be irregular shaped and not dots. I finished the mani applying a coat of seche vite.

I What do think of the final result? I would love to repeat this with other colours! Let my know your thoughts.
And ofcourse don't forget to pay a visit to the lovely lady's in the challenge listed below!
Love you my sweeties!

Last Nail look for Spring: Purple butterflies

Hello my dears! How was your weekend? I'm working hard on my final paper, also on weekends :( When I have some free time in the evenings I schedule some blog posts, so this place continues to live, but most of the stuff I put are archive pictures of manis and makeup I've worn months ago!! For instance, what you're about to see was worn on April 11th!

Yep, all I do lately is write some short posts, and upload old photos. It's kind of sad my free time is so limited I hardly find the occasion to read and comment on my favourite blogs, *sigh*.

Well, hope you'll understand, soon all this will be over and I'll have some more free time.

This mani consists of a simple stamping using Essence stamping plate and Konad special polish in lilac and silver. The base colour is Catrice dirty berry, of which you can see swatches here.

So this is nothing special but it looked so suitable for spring to my eyes! Now that we are heading directly to summer, I decided to post it to farewell our "strange" spring this year. Let's hope summer will bring warm days and lots of sun!!

Love,
Nati

Illamasqua lipgloss in Move

Hello my dears! Happy Friday to you all! Any nice plans for the weekend?
I'm still working on Saturdays and a little bit on Sundays too, to have my final paper done. But I take most of the Sunday off to share with my family.
Well, anyway, now that I've bored you to death with my home news, let's talk about makeup!!! remember I've recently show you a deal I got at Illamasqua's, and today I'd like to show you the lipgloss in Move, because it is a very pretty shade!

I love this lipgloss, because it is not sticky at all, it's nicely opaque (as oppose to sheer) and it's sooooo shiny! Plus is a pretty shade of pink. It is a medium rose pink that leans a little to blue, but not too much that it clashes with my complexion. I have many lipglosses, but none of the same shade and coverage. I really like it. I guess my "matte-lip-spring" is over! I'm loving glossy lips again this summer!

What do you think about the shade? So, what about you? matte or glossy lips for Summer?
Have a wonderful weekend!!!!!!!!!!

NOTD: Fishtail braid nails

Hello Dears! How are you doing? I hope you're enjoying your evening!
What I have for you today is a manicure that's been in my to do list for very longtime: fishtail braid nails. It's quite simple indeed, so you don't need much except three different colours of nail polish.

For this look I used Maybelline #835 Metal me Teal! (the dark metallic teal), China Glaze Flying Hihg (the acqua blue) and Essie Mint candy apple (the light mint green).

For achieving the effect of "braided" nails, I followed the tutorial by Lucy's stash here. And it was quite easy. The result is not perfect, but for my first time I think it came out pretty good! I totally want to do this nail art again but with different colours!

Please, let me know your thoughts, have you already tried "braid" nails? if so, what colours did you use? Have a lovely evening !!
Love,
Nati

EOTD: Maybelline colour tatoo in Metallic Pomegranate (+ short review)

Hello my dears! How have you started this week?
I've already mentioned some time ago that I'm really obsessed with finding the right wine eye shade, and I'm not having much luck. I do not know why the brands neglect this shade that I call "Bordeaux" and bring the shade always to much lighter reds, or bluer plums, but never seems to be the ideal shade that's in my head.
The closest to my ideal I could find is Maybelline colour tatoo in Metallic Pomegranate. This shade looked totally as I hoped it should look... under the store lights. But not in sunlight, or normal lighting at home.

But it's still a pretty shade and I've done a look with it I'd like to share with you.

For this look I used:

- NYX Above & beyond full coverage concealer in 04Beige
- Urban decay eyeshadow primer potion
- Maybelline colour tatoo in #70 Metallic Pomegranate

- CHANEL Stylo Yeux Waterproof  83 Cassis

- Benefit Bad Gal Plum eye colour intensifying mascara
- Sigma brushes E55 (Eye shading) this didn't do much good,  E40 (Tapered blending)

Now, just a few words on the Maybelline eyshadow: It was long lasting, so I do not have complaints in that department, BUT it was not the easiest to apply. In fact as I tried to pack the colour using the brush, the shade kept being swept from one side to the other, until I decided I was going to apply it with fingers and tapping movements, then it worked a little better, but I could not apply it as precisely as I would have wanted. It's also very difficult to blend, and you must work a lot if you like to smooth your edges, because it sets rather quickly.

I leave you a mirror-picture so you can see how the eye look played in the whole face, though I look quite tired, don't I?

So what do you think of this shade? Is this something you'd wear? Do you own this or any other Maybellin color tatoo shades? What do you think about them?
Let me know your thoughts!
Love,
Nati

All time favourite: China Glaze Flying Dragon

What I'd like to share with you today is an oldy but goody from China glaze: Flying Dragon. this colours is a little controverted because as far as I know there are two versions of it, one is the "neon" version and it's the one I own.

This is a pretty fantastic shade a magenta-purple with blue and pink glitter dust. The particularity of this polish is it dries to a matte finish, that makes the shade look dusty indeed (I was going to say "dull" but thought it was so negative, it's not that bad). BUT when you apply a topcoat: boom! there's why they call it "neon". I don't see it neon, still quite bright, I like it much better with topcoat. So much better that : I forgot to photograph it without topcoat! So you have to take my word on its looks until I wear it again and update this post with a proper topcoat-less picture.

The pictures show two coats of Flying dragon with one coat of Mavadry. The formula on this one is good, nice to apply. It applies like a jelly at first, but it dries pretty fast to a matte finish. You need two coats to reach opacity.
Do you own this shade? how do you like it better, with or without topcoat? (for those who own it)

Nati
